Tobou (Cancelled project) by Neil
I first uploaded this clip to test out the quality of the lines when viewed as a movie online and to test out the minimal base coloring I had done (in the "title"), to make sure they did not 'bleed'. I did a merge of some layers afterwards in FlipBook, at wich point the app freaked out on me resulting in a crash, and all my work was blanked out. If it wasn't for this movie upload, I would have been left without any real trace of what I had done, so I'm glad I uploaded it (I guess..). My initial idea was to create a "behind the scenes" movie on how I had drafted, sketched, refined, colored, animated and so on forth on my planned animation, but since I am now basically (a bit) annoyed by this, I am just going to most likely disregard those plans. I wish for the FlipBook developers to implement a backup function (I think it bugged since the iPhone gave the notification of low battery as it was merging), since having something being blanked out completely due to a crash is to put it mildly, frustrating. Don't get me wrong--FlipBook is all-in-all fantastic (basically all you need), and you can do (on a smaller scale, literally) all the things you can do (and more) in traditional animation. But at least paper don't accidentally crash and erase itself, hehe. ---- Info on the clip: It is in a sense 'playing' backwards in terms of how I sketched, except a few frames has been injected in between (like the "title") and the initial rough(s) have been moved ahead since I use Onion skinning on the previous frame. I was also planning on deleting this clip, but I guess I'll keep it (for now) to detail slightly the sketching phase. Shame, I had alot of fun toying around with this and what I planned to animate. -On to the next project..
